Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I picked this up during the spring and was not quite sure what to think of it. In a nutshell, Fuzzy Nation tells the story of a former lawyer turned prospector on a remote planet who comes across a mineral find that potentially can make him a very rich man. The only problem with the find is that there certain obstacles in the way from allowing him to reap the major financial benefits of the find.
John Scalzi’s story is pretty well-written with some good humor. It’s not Stephen King, Michael Crichton, or even Arthur C Clarke, but I would say that this is damn good science fiction.
On a related note concerning the book, if you pick up the audio version via Audible.com or wherever it might be sold, Will Wheaton (yes, Wesley Crusher from Star Trek) narrates the story. Will does a helluva job in narrating the book.
